The
new road goes through BacCan, CaoBang and end up at historical site:
PacBo. CaoBang
is a remote northern province, shares borders with China as HaGiang and
LangSon. There are nine ethnic minorities living in CaoBang, including the
Tay, Nung, Dao, H’mong, Hoa and SanChay. Famous
sites in CaoBang include ThangHen Lake in TraLinh, BanGioc falls in
TrungKhanh and PacBo cave where Uncle Ho lived and worked before the
August 1945 Revolution. BanGioc
falls is situated in TrungKhanh
district in CaoBang province nears China border. The echo of the falls can
be heard kilometers away from TrungKhanh. Water
from QuySon River falling down on the stone creates water droplets columns
that can be seen from a distance. The temperature near the waterfall is
remarkably cool, due to the water mist in the air. At
the foot of the waterfall is a large river, as calm as glass, surrounded
by many precious kinds of flowers. Ban Gioc falls is famous for a famous
fish named tram huong. In the early 1920s, French people started building
cottages on the river banks. They would come here to relax, fish for tram
huong, and hunt deer. The
limestone mountain scenery from CaoBang to TrungKhanh and onto BanGioc is
fabulous. Nice Karst valley, green rice terraces, great place for strong
cyclist, you can get more information about The
beauty of Karst valley route at www.cyclingvietnam.net
PacBo
is a small mountainous village in HaQuang district, 60km northwest of
CaoBang town, well-known as a revolutionary resistance base. The famous
CocBo cave is where President HoChiMinh established his residence and
worked on Vietnam’s revolutionary course after returning from 30 years
abroad. The
main historical relics in this area consists of Lenin creek, Karl Marx
peak, BoBam cave, CoRac ground, and Khuoi Nam-where President Ho Chi Minh
directly trained cadres and held many tactical meetings. BaBe
National Park, sometimes
referred to as BaBe Lakes, 60km from BacCan, 240km from HaNoi – a
beautiful region that covers more than 23,000 hectares, including
waterfalls, rivers, deep valleys, lakes, and caves which make it a
picturesque landscape. The surrounding area is home to members of the Tay
minority, who live in stilt house. BaBe
Lakes itself is actually three smaller lakes joined together – PeLam,
PeLu and PeLeng. Located 145 meters above sea level, BaBe lakes are among
the largest natural lakes in Vietnam with a total surface area of 500
hectares. The climate is cool with an average temperature of 22°C. It’s
a nice day tour combining motorboat, walking and cycling. Start the boat
tour near ChoRa, cruising through Puong Cave, pass by villages of Tau, Cam
and HuaTang (market convened every five days at Tau village), and navigate
your way through the river’s forks and brooks, you will reach DauDang
falls. Then turn off the river to enter BaBe lakes. Homestays can be
arranged at PacNgoi village, great view of the lakes. |
